&lt;p&gt;The Lenten season is a time for sacrifice, to get closer to God.  I always have the best intentions to open my bible and study daily, but more often than not, I fall short. Lately, I have also gotten away from consistent exercise, this challenge has changed both of those for the better.&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;In Body Gospel, trainer Donna Richardson Joyner uses the power of faith to help with your fitness journey.  I&amp;#8217;ve opened my bible every day and have completed 6 workouts per week.  Having to check in every day has been a motivating force.  Matthew 18:20 sums it up well, &amp;#8220;For where two or three are gathered together in my name, there I am in the midst of them.&amp;#8221;&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;As we prepare for the spring and summer seasons, a time when we can no longer hide underneath blazers and thick sweaters, consider joining my next Body Gospel Challenge, which will begin on April 1. &lt;p class="MsoNormal"&gt;&lt;span&gt;I watch the USA show Necessary Roughness.&lt;span&gt;  &lt;/span&gt;On the most recent episode, Dani told TK, “You can’t win the war without losing some battles.”&lt;span&gt;  &lt;/span&gt;That thought has stayed in my mind.&lt;span&gt;  &lt;/span&gt;It is true.&lt;span&gt;  &lt;/span&gt;For the last two weeks, I have been losing the battle.&lt;span&gt;  &lt;/span&gt;I have not been making my 3Ws – Working Out, Writing it Down, and Drinking my Water a priority and Winks, forget about it!&lt;span&gt;  &lt;/span&gt;I have to get back on track.&lt;span&gt;  &lt;/span&gt;I plan to do so by taking a few minutes to remind myself why I am on this journey.&lt;span&gt;  &lt;/span&gt;I have come a considerable distance, but as Robert Frost says , “and miles to go before I sleep.”&lt;/span&gt;&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p class="MsoNormal"&gt;&lt;span&gt;As part of the Lenten season I will be beginning a Body Gospel challenge group on Monday with some friends.&lt;span&gt;  &lt;/span&gt;The accountability to others is just what I need to get on track.&lt;span&gt;  &lt;/span&gt;I will win the war!!&lt;/span&gt;&lt;/p&gt;

I feel kind of embarrassed that despite losing 40 pounds, I still weigh over 200 pounds.  Well this is the last year for that.&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;There I said it, so now it&amp;#8217;s real.  If you really want to achieve something, don&amp;#8217;t keep it inside, share it with someone, you&amp;#8217;re more likely to succeed. &lt;p class="MsoNormal"&gt;&lt;span&gt;Because I know some of you are set in your ways and will still wait until 2013 rings in, and nothing new can start until a Monday, I am offering four options to help you start 2013 on the right foot.&lt;span&gt;  &lt;/span&gt;All will begin on Monday, January 7.&lt;span&gt;  &lt;/span&gt;They are as follows:&lt;/span&gt;&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p class="MsoListParagraphCxSpFirst"&gt;&lt;span&gt;&lt;span&gt;1.&lt;span&gt;       &lt;/span&gt;&lt;/span&gt;&lt;/span&gt;&lt;strong&gt;&lt;span&gt;Get Moving&lt;/span&gt;&lt;/strong&gt;&lt;span&gt; challenge group – This group will run for &lt;strong&gt;30&lt;/strong&gt; days.&lt;span&gt;  &lt;/span&gt;Each participant will commit to exercise regularly, which will mean something different to each person.&lt;span&gt;  &lt;/span&gt;I will work with you to set a challenging, yet achievable goal.&lt;/span&gt;&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p class="MsoListParagraphCxSpMiddle"&gt;&lt;span&gt;&lt;span&gt;2.&lt;span&gt;       &lt;/span&gt;&lt;/span&gt;&lt;/span&gt;&lt;strong&gt;&lt;span&gt;Les Mills Combat &lt;/span&gt;&lt;/strong&gt;&lt;span&gt;challenge group – This group will run for &lt;strong&gt;60&lt;/strong&gt; days.&lt;span&gt;  &lt;/span&gt;Each participant will purchase a copy of the Les Mills Combat program and commit to following the preset schedule of workouts for 60 days.&lt;span&gt;  &lt;/span&gt;The following link gives a preview of the program:&lt;span&gt;  &lt;/span&gt;&lt;/span&gt;&lt;a href="http://beachbodycoach.com/esuite/home/cnewyou?bctid=1974478953001"&gt;&lt;a href="http://beachbodycoach.com/esuite/home/cnewyou?bctid=1974478953001"&gt;http://beachbodycoach.com/esuite/home/cnewyou?bctid=1974478953001&lt;/a&gt;&lt;/a&gt;&lt;/p&gt;

&lt;p&gt;So how do we make it through the rest of the holiday season without losing our minds and our momentum?  By being realistic.&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;I think the reason so many people let their guard down is the pursuit of perfectionism.  If we can&amp;#8217;t exercise an hour a day, count every calorie, and drink all of  our water, we&amp;#8217;ve failed, so what&amp;#8217;s the point in trying, right?.  That voice inside tells you to go have another cup of eggnog and wait until  January 1 when all of the festivities are over and start fresh.  DO NOT LISTEN TO THAT VOICE!!!!&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;Be realistic and do what you can. You may not be able to carve out an hour a day for P90X, but you could fit a couple of 10 Minute Trainer sessions into your day.  You may not be able to spend an hour on the elliptical, but you can park as far safely possible away from the mall and walk a few extra steps.  Repeat after me, &amp;#8220;Something is better than nothing!&amp;#8221; Now be sure to do something good for yourself.  I&amp;#8217;d love to hear what it is.  You know where to find me.  Happy Holidays!&lt;/p&gt;

We still have Thanksgiving and whichever winter holiday you celebrate to prepare for.  On Friday, I got my first taste of the holidays, a team luncheon buffet.  I started off strong with a nice salad with balsamic vinaigrette and a cup of Manhattan clam chowder.  The soup was so good, I had another cup and of course two pieces of bread with butter since it was a special occasion.  For the entree, I only ate the things I really liked that I wouldn&amp;#8217;t normally make myself at home.  Then it was time for dessert.  4 cookies and two cups of coffee later, I was stuffed and feeling guilty.  Despite my binge, it could have been much worse.&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;Data varies as to the amount of weight the average person gains during the holidays. I saw as little as 1 pound and as high as 10 pounds when I was researching.  Two things that I did see again and again were overweight people tend to gain more weight during the holiday season and people tend NOT to lose all the weight they gain during the holiday (so much for New Year&amp;#8217;s resolutions).&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;Armed with these facts, now, more than ever, it&amp;#8217;s important to set some realistic goals to strive for during the holiday season and stick with them.  To that end, I am running my second annual End it Right Challenge. You are not behind. (see the post from 10/1 or contact me for details) &lt;/span&gt;&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p class="MsoNormal"&gt;&lt;span&gt;I try to change my challenges each month so that I don’t get bored and because I know everyone, from the words of Tamara Lowe, has a different “motivational DNA”.&lt;span&gt;  &lt;/span&gt;What gets you to act may not necessarily inspire me to act and so forth.&lt;span&gt;  &lt;/span&gt;This whole AcCOUNTability theme came to me in a car ride.&lt;span&gt;  &lt;/span&gt;I figured it was God giving me a suggestion, so I felt compelled to use it!&lt;span&gt;  &lt;/span&gt;I really didn’t think the points would motivate me to act, but I have been pleasantly surprised.&lt;span&gt;  &lt;/span&gt;In just one week, I have learned things about myself, that, had they not been in front of my face, I may have overlooked.&lt;span&gt;  &lt;/span&gt;I learned that I CAN stay under my calorie goal and most days, I do.&lt;span&gt;  &lt;/span&gt;I also learned that I get more sleep than I thought, but in doing so, I missed my exercise goal.&lt;span&gt;  Finally, &lt;/span&gt;I confirmed that I am more likely to Write it Down and stay within my calorie goal during the week than the weekend. &lt;/span&gt;All of this new knowledge will help me set my goals for the coming weeks.&lt;/p&gt;

Anyway, my everyday flat black boots had seen a better day, so I bought a new pair of wedge boots.  I am so glad I did.  My pants are getting so loose that I need the extra height to keep them from dragging on the ground. And to that I say, WooHoo!!! (You didn&amp;#8217;t think the W&amp;#8217;s were gone for good, did you?)&lt;/p&gt;

&lt;p class="MsoNormal"&gt;&lt;span&gt;&lt;span&gt;&lt;span&gt;This month’s challenge is an AcCOUNTability challenge.&lt;span&gt;  &lt;/span&gt;It will run from Monday, October 8 - Wednesday, October 31.&lt;span&gt;  &lt;/span&gt;The focus is going to be on four behaviors that I have found to be critical in my own journey – Writing it Down or tracking your intake, Working Out or exercise, Water, and Winks, or sleep.&lt;span&gt;  &lt;/span&gt;(I developed a little obsession with W’s.&lt;span&gt;  &lt;/span&gt;See previous posts for more details.)&lt;span&gt;  &lt;/span&gt;Each day you will have the opportunity to earn 50 points – 15 for Writing it Down, 10 for Workout, 10 for Water, 10 for Winks, and 5 for replacing one meal a day with Shakeology &lt;/span&gt;&lt;a name="OLE_LINK90" id="OLE_LINK90"&gt;&lt;/a&gt;&lt;a name="OLE_LINK91" id="OLE_LINK91"&gt;&lt;/a&gt;&lt;a name="OLE_LINK72" id="OLE_LINK72"&gt;&lt;span&gt;&lt;span&gt;&lt;/span&gt;&lt;/span&gt;&lt;/a&gt;&lt;/span&gt;&lt;/span&gt;&lt;a href="http://beachbodycoach.com/esuite/home/cnewyou?bctid=16664447001"&gt;&lt;span&gt;&lt;span&gt;&lt;span&gt;&lt;span&gt;&lt;span&gt;&lt;a href="http://beachbodycoach.com/esuite/home/cnewyou?bctid=16664447001"&gt;http://beachbodycoach.com/esuite/home/cnewyou?bctid=16664447001&lt;/a&gt;&lt;/span&gt;&lt;/span&gt;&lt;/span&gt;&lt;/span&gt;&lt;/span&gt;&lt;span&gt;&lt;/span&gt;&lt;span&gt;&lt;span&gt;&lt;span&gt;&lt;span&gt;&lt;/span&gt;&lt;/span&gt;&lt;/span&gt;&lt;/span&gt;&lt;/a&gt;&lt;span&gt;&lt;/span&gt;&lt;span&gt;&lt;/span&gt;&lt;span&gt;&lt;span&gt;&lt;span&gt;.&lt;span&gt;  &lt;/span&gt;&lt;/span&gt;&lt;/span&gt;&lt;/span&gt;&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p class="MsoNormal"&gt;&lt;span&gt;&lt;span&gt;&lt;span&gt;Points will be earned as follows:&lt;/span&gt;&lt;/span&gt;&lt;/span&gt;&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p class="MsoNormal"&gt;&lt;span&gt;&lt;span&gt;&lt;strong&gt;&lt;span&gt;Writing it Down&lt;/span&gt;&lt;/strong&gt;&lt;/span&gt;&lt;/span&gt;&lt;span&gt;&lt;span&gt;&lt;span&gt; – What we eat is a great percentage of how successful we’ll be in reaching our health and fitness goals.&lt;span&gt;  &lt;/span&gt;Each day you &lt;u&gt;complete&lt;/u&gt; your food journal via My Fitness Pal, or for my Weight Watchers, through your points tracker and stay within your allotted calories or points, you earn 15 points.&lt;span&gt;  &lt;/span&gt;If you complete your daily food journal/tracker, but exceed your calories or points, you will receive 10 points for your effort.&lt;span&gt;  &lt;/span&gt;If you track some of your calories or points, you will receive 5 points.&lt;/span&gt;&lt;/span&gt;&lt;/span&gt;&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p class="MsoNormal"&gt;&lt;span&gt;&lt;span&gt;&lt;strong&gt;&lt;span&gt;Working Out&lt;/span&gt;&lt;/strong&gt;&lt;/span&gt;&lt;/span&gt;&lt;span&gt;&lt;span&gt;&lt;span&gt; – You will have the opportunity to earn 10 points per day for completing your workout goal for the week.&lt;span&gt;  &lt;/span&gt;Does that mean you have to workout everyday?&lt;span&gt;  &lt;/span&gt;It depends on where you are on your journey.&lt;span&gt;  &lt;/span&gt;For example, if your goal is to get off the couch and move 2 times for 30 minutes and you do that, you will receive 70 points for the week or 10 per day for completing YOUR goal.&lt;span&gt;  &lt;/span&gt;If you complete some of your workout goal, you will receive 35 points for the week, or 5 per day.&lt;/span&gt;&lt;/span&gt;&lt;/span&gt;&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p class="MsoNormal"&gt;&lt;span&gt;&lt;span&gt;&lt;strong&gt;&lt;span&gt;Water&lt;/span&gt;&lt;/strong&gt;&lt;/span&gt;&lt;/span&gt;&lt;span&gt;&lt;span&gt;&lt;span&gt; – If you drink a minimum of 64 ounces of water per day, you will receive 10 points per day.&lt;span&gt;  &lt;/span&gt;If you drink some of your water, you will receive 5 points per day.&lt;/span&gt;&lt;/span&gt;&lt;/span&gt;&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p class="MsoNormal"&gt;&lt;span&gt;&lt;span&gt;&lt;strong&gt;&lt;span&gt;Winks&lt;/span&gt;&lt;/strong&gt;&lt;/span&gt;&lt;/span&gt;&lt;span&gt;&lt;span&gt;&lt;span&gt; – It is recommended that adults get between 7-9 hours of sleep a night.&lt;span&gt;  &lt;/span&gt;If you get 8 hours of sleep, you will receive 10 points, 7 hours = 9, 6 hours = 7, 5 hours = 5, 4 hours and below = 2.&lt;/span&gt;&lt;/span&gt;&lt;/span&gt;&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p class="MsoNormal"&gt;&lt;span&gt;&lt;span&gt;&lt;strong&gt;&lt;span&gt;Shakeology&lt;/span&gt;&lt;/strong&gt;&lt;/span&gt;&lt;/span&gt;&lt;span&gt;&lt;span&gt;&lt;span&gt; – A couple of years back, my doctor gave me a year to decrease my borderline cholesterol levels before he put me on medication.&lt;span&gt;  &lt;/span&gt;At that time I had already begun to exercise regularly and had changed my diet.&lt;span&gt;  &lt;/span&gt;I started drinking Shakeology once a day, most days.&lt;span&gt;  &lt;/span&gt;Two years later I am still medicine free.&lt;span&gt;  &lt;/span&gt;I believe so strongly in this product that you will receive 5 points for replacing one meal a day with Shakeology.&lt;/span&gt;&lt;/span&gt;&lt;/span&gt;&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p class="MsoNormal"&gt;&lt;span&gt;&lt;span&gt;&lt;span&gt;Not a numbers person? I did turn 40.&lt;span&gt;  &lt;/span&gt;I unfortunately did not reach my goal of 40 pounds lost by that date.&lt;span&gt;  &lt;/span&gt;I did, though, get to my lowest weight in about 10 years and my wardrobe has expanded.&lt;span&gt;  &lt;/span&gt;I can now fit in to some of those “one day I’ll get back into this” clothes that were tucked away in my closet, so all was not lost.&lt;/span&gt;&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p class="MsoNormal"&gt;&lt;span&gt;We’re about to enter the last quarter of the year.&lt;span&gt;  &lt;/span&gt;You know the one with the Halloween candy, turkey, and holiday goodies.&lt;span&gt;  &lt;/span&gt;This time of year can make or break your routine.&lt;span&gt;  &lt;/span&gt;If you’re on track with your goals, keep the momentum going.&lt;span&gt;  &lt;/span&gt;If not, there’s no better time to start than today.&lt;span&gt;  &lt;/span&gt;&lt;/span&gt;&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p class="MsoNormal"&gt;&lt;span&gt;Due to illness, this time last week was my first workout for the week.&lt;span&gt;  &lt;/span&gt;I could have waited until Monday, but I didn’t.&lt;span&gt;  &lt;/span&gt;By not waiting, I got in 1.25 hours of exercise and burned over 500 calories.&lt;/span&gt;&lt;/p&gt;
